KYC Guidance Note

Follow these steps to check your KYC status and understand what each status means.

Step 1 — Check your KYC

Visit any of the following KYC Registration Agencies (KRAs):

Click "KYC Inquiry".
Enter your 10-digit PAN.
Your KYC status will be displayed as one of: Validated, Registered, On-Hold, or Rejected.

Step 2 — What each status means

KYC Validated

Everything is done. No additional action is required from your end.

KYC Registered

You can continue transacting with intermediaries with whom you are already registered.
If you wish to transact with a new intermediary you will have to do KYC again.
You can get your KYC status changed to "KYC Validated" by modifying your KYC using PAN and Aadhaar.

If you have already used Aadhaar to perform KYC, you can validate your KYC using:

KYC On-Hold / Rejected

This implies that there is some discrepancy in the KYC documents, or your PAN is not linked with your Aadhaar.

You will have to modify your KYC using PAN and Aadhaar before executing any transactions with existing or new intermediaries.

Step 3 — Modify your KYC online

Attention Investors

Stock brokers can accept securities as margins from clients only by way of pledge in the depository system w.e.f September 01, 2020.
Update your e-mail and phone number with your stock broker / depository participant and receive OTP directly from depository on your e-mail and/or mobile number to create pledge.
Check your securities / MF / bonds in the consolidated account statement issued by NSDL/CDSL every month.

Prevent unauthorised transactions in your account. Update your mobile numbers/email IDs with your stock brokers. Receive information of your transactions directly from Exchange on your mobile/email at the end of the day. Issued in the interest of investors. KYC is one time exercise while dealing in securities markets — once KYC is done through a SEBI registered intermediary (broker, DP, Mutual Fund etc.), you need not undergo the same process again when you approach another intermediary.

Dear Investor, if you are subscribing to an IPO, there is no need to issue a cheque. Please write the Bank account number and sign the IPO application form to authorize your bank to make payment in case of allotment. In case of non-allotment the funds will remain in your bank account.
